Barrie Hanley (16 February 1938- 2 May 2019)
Barrie was an admired and beloved member of Cambois Rowing club for most of his life, joining the club as a teenager and then dedicating over 50 years to coaching. In this time, he helped crews win at numerous national competitions and developed several athletes to GB level. His dedication to the sport was recognised by British Rowing in 2011 when he was presented with an Outstanding Achievement award for his significant contribution to rowing.
In special recognition of Barrie’s legacy and to honour his memory, his family have arranged for the Barrie Hanley Cup to be introduced at our Wansbeck Regatta on 18 May 2024.

Additionally, the Victor Ludorum prize for 2024 has also been sponsored by the very generous FES International, and a prize of £250 will be awarded alongside the cup to the club with the most wins at the Wansbeck Regatta in May.
